Welcome to the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences

The School of Biological and Chemical Sciences was established in 2022. It delivers cutting edge research and academic programmes in modern day biological and chemical sciences. In pursuit of environmental and social sustainability for the future the activities within the school align within two key thematic areas, Sustainable World and Health and Discovery.‌‌

We offer a range of taught and research-led programmes at Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Post-Doctoral level. Discover undergraduate study in Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Agriculture/Bioeconomy or explore our postgraduate  courses in Climate Change, Food Sustainability, Biomedical Science, Biotechnology and Medical Technology.  Our curriculum embeds sustainability and the principles of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, feature innovative teaching methods, and draw on our wide range of strengths from across the sciences at NUI Galway.
