The Health and Safety committee has the responsibility for oversight of Health and Safety and compliance
Committee Terms of Reference
- Meet every second month; additional meetings may be called in emergency situations.
- Record the minutes of meetings and make them available to the Head of School and School Management Team.
- Advise the Head of School on the measures needed to carry out the work of the Unit without risks to Health and Safety.
- Advertise and encourage membership from staff and students, including Academic, Support and Technical staff, Post Graduate Students and Safety Representatives.
- Coordinate any Safety advice given to the school by specialist advisors or the University Safety Office.
- Monitor health and safety compliance within the Unit and report any breaches of the Health and Safety policy to the Head of School.
- Inform the Head of School and the University Safety Office if any significant new hazards are to be introduced to the Unit.
- Support the Head of School in reviewing the quality of Hazard Assessment in the School.
- Ensure Safety audits are performed in the school footprint periodically.
- Receive and review all Injury, Incident and near-miss reports from the Accident Recorder.
- Receive advice and representation from relevant Safety Representatives.
